Luis Antonio Paulino Cruz, maestro, mezcalero and campesino, who Rezpiral partners with, has begun a new generation of agaves from the seeds of select-mother plants with the objective of further generating and repopulating agave sub varietals in the name of bio-diveristy and traditional mezcal. Madrecuishe, Tepeztate, Mexicano and Tobala are all pictured in their respective beds on their first year.
At the same time, Luis is choosing select Mexicano agaves (el Mexicano Gris, el Mexicano Verde, el Mexicano Sierrudo, el Mexicano Redondo) to raise to seed and or clones while the rest will be gifted to various Rezpiral producing families’ lands, to re-populate these sub-varietals and natural resources (see short film below.)
